Business Plan Development- Example of a University Spin Off Company Marketing Plug-In Hybrid Technology
A business plan is the most important business document for a start up company. It articulates its goals and the way how to achieve these goals for several different purposes. Entrepreneurs must show a well conceived and convincing business plan combined with a professional presentation to have their business idea considered seriously. In order to do so, a successful business plan has to not only present an idea or product, but also, must deal with the entire environment around it. Business Plan Development describes the most crucial elements a business plan must cover. They are explained in the true example of the high tech start up EDI. It also illustrates the process of a start up company and its relationship and importance to a business plan. This book covers the business development process from the initial idea for a product or service, through the structuring phase, seeking of funding and finally to a stand alone business. Business Plan Development provides a guideline with a pracmatic example for entrepreneurs to structure a business idea and also for existing companies to focus their business activities in order to achieve better results.

Many people today want to start their own business, and it’s probably easier to do than ever before, thanks to our technological world. But business remains business, and there will always be certain rules to follow and traditional ways of looking at starting an entrepreneurial venture.

Here are some questions people have about starting their own business and an insight into some answers that will give you a good head start on getting your own business off the ground.

Starting a business opens the door for plenty of suggestions and criticism from family. Many new business owners wonder, “Should I listen to what people have to say?”

The answer is yes and no. To be professional, it’s important to listen to what people have to say, no matter what they’re saying. That doesn’t mean you have to do as they tell you, and it also doesn’t mean that the feedback or suggestions they offer are good ones.

People close to you feel they have a say in what you do and won’t always sugar-coat their opinions, but try to keep in mind that by listening, you’re showing respect, and that also, if they feel heard, they probably won’t feel the need to keep repeating the same comments over and over.

On the other hand, there are plenty of good ideas that can come from the same people, as they’ll see your business and decisions from a different perspective, so you just may find that the suggestions they offer might be valuable ones to implement.

When planning to start a business, what are some of the things that need to be taken care of from the start?

The most important thing to put down on paper is all your ideas about your business. Every time a new idea or a way of working strikes you, write it down, as you may forget the idea while trying to cover lots of other aspects of opening a business.

Have a solid plan about how you’re going to do business, who you’re going to approach for start-up capital, what products or services you’re going to sell, and how you’re going to promote your business. Also, you’ll need to figure out how much you’re going to sell your products or services for and what expenses you’ll have. Getting a flawless business plan down on paper is the most important thing you’ll need to do.

What’s a feasibility analysis? Is it the same as a business plan?

Not quite. A feasibility analysis is taking a good, close look at the financial potential of your company, and seeing if it’s feasible for your business to be successful, once everything has been factored in. It covers probabilities as well as risks, whereas a business plan is more of a structured outline of how your company will turn a profit.

A feasibility analysis can also show you the things you’ll need to obtain or develop, such as personal skills or qualifications, and it will show you whether your plans for a home office are possible or if you’ll need to rent out office space.

What are some of the things I’ll need to consider to start my own business?

There are lots of considerations for individuals who want to open a business and sell to consumers. First of all, what you want to sell and for how much is important to know. Is there a market for these products or services? And how will you go about promoting your business?

Marketing strategies go beyond simple flyers or advertisements, and you’ll want to be creative about how you let consumers know you’re ready to do business. You’ll also need some kind of office or location to run your affairs from, and you’ll need to consider equipment and consumables, as well as fixed expenses and variable ones. Lastly, are you ready and prepared, mentally, physically, and financially, to open your own business?

Is there something entrepreneurs shouldn’t do when they’re thinking about starting a new business?

One of the biggest things people planning to start a business shouldn’t do is dreaming large. Sure, it’s good to have great ideas but keeping a focus and narrowing your business concept is important. Big dreamers have plans to take the world by storm, but that’s often too vast an idea and it’s difficult to pin down a solid business plan of something so presumptuous.

When you’re thinking of starting a business, try to picture an arrow. Shot from the bow, it pierces the target. That’s how you want to start your business – firmly and surely. From there, once you’re established, you can start expansions of products and services, and help your business grow slowly but steadily.

Whether you choose to design a website from scratch or use a free Web template to design a website for your online business, there are many things to ask yourself before you get started:

1. Do you plan on selling products on your website? Will you need a shopping cart to collect payments?

2. Do you plan on displaying articles or having a blog?

3. Do you plan on having advertising on your website?

4. Does the website design need to be interactive for site visitors?

5. Do you want to run your website through a content management system (CMS)?

6. Does the website need to include an audio or video player?

7. Would your target market appreciate a flashy design, or something simple?

Once you’ve answered those questions, it’s time to design a website for your online business. There are a few general options to consider when deciding how to design a website:

1. Hire a professional Web designer and/or Web programmer to create a custom Web design and backend system or e-commerce solution, including any necessary tools. You can find great programmers and designers at websites such as http://Elance.com and http://RentACoder.com. When you post a project on either of these services be sure not to choose a bidder just because they are the cheapest. Choose someone with a very long history of positive feedback.

2. Design a website yourself if you already have the Web design and coding skills (or take the time to learn HMTL/XHTML/CSS/PHP etc.). I only recommend this option if you are very technical and very quick. Your time is best spent on building your business not learning the details of web design — unless, of course, you want to get into the business of web design.

3. Use a pre-designed Web template from free Web template providers, or purchase a Website template. You can use Web templates as-is, or customize them to fit your needs. A great source for templates is http://TemplateMonster.com.

4. If you don’t have any experience with creating websites and you do not want to hire a designer then there is still an option for you. I like to refer to this option as a Website-In-A-Box or a Store-In-A-Box. Basically the service gives you everything you need to get your website online quickly and easily. Yes, you have to pay a little more for these services and some of them even take a percentage of every sale but your website design will not stand between you and your ultimate goal — making money online. Some examples of these services are Yahoo Small Business (http://store.yahoo.com), http://SiteBuilder.com, and http://Web.com.

No matter how you decide to design a website for your online business, make sure that the website design serves the needs of both your online business and its customers or target visitors.

How much focus have you got in your business? Have you set smart goals for your personal life, your business life and for the marketing of your business?

If you want to grow your network marketing business then you will need to be doing some marketing (just like any business).

What this means is that you approach your network marketing business in a professional way and treat it like the opportunity that it is. This means finding out your target market, knowing what appeals to them and communicating that with them in ways that they can understand and in places your message will reach them.

However, it’s really important that before you start any marketing activity at all that you know what you are trying to achieve with your marketing. In fact, I would go as far as to say that you should not even attempt to do any marketing activity, or attempt to grow your network marketing business, unless you have written down your Smart Goals.

Your marketing, after all, is what will achieve your business goals and ultimately your personal goals. And the achievement of your personal goals is probably why you came into network marketing in the first place.

If you can’t get customers buying your products, then how are you going to make sales? If you can’t find people to join you in your network then how are you going to build a residual income? Sales and residual income mean money. I know money isn’t everything, but what money does is paves the way to your dreams. And your dreams are absolutely everything.

The only way you’re going to make your money is via your marketing. You use your marketing to find your customers and attract the right business prospects to you. And your marketing, as I said, needs some ’smart goals’ setting before you start.

The word ’smart’ in ’smart goals’ stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely. There are variations on this, but essentially it all boils down to these meanings.

If you’d like to learn more about setting smart goals, my site goes into them in a lot more detail, as well as giving you some examples (see author box at the bottom of this article).

The difference between your different smart goals might look like this:
Personal goal – to retire to the Bahamas in 10 years time on an income of 100K a year
Business goal (for this year) – to build an income of 20K with a downline of 200.
Marketing goal (for this year) – to recruit 10 new frontline distributors a month (I’ll assume a percentage go on to duplicate).

The next step will obviously be how you do that. The ‘how’ becomes your marketing strategy and plan. The ‘how’ might be through online forums, advertising in the local press, business networking groups, and so on. When you put your marketing plan together it needs to have the activities in place to create, on average, 10 new distributors a month.

You see how it all links together?

10 new distributors each month gives you 120 in total. We’ll assume, for ease of maths, the other 80 come from downline duplication. So by the end of the year you have your 200.

Your income matches the 20K that you set out to achieve.

And you’re on schedule for the Bahamas.

(NB You will need to have done a bit of maths beforehand to make sure your figures add up.)

With marketing goals you can have annual goals, but also 6 monthly and quarterly, and even monthly.
It’s up to you – it’s your business – but as you keep an eye on your goals, and how you’re doing against them, you’ll know whether to adjust them or not. This is one of the reasons for setting smart goals – as they are easy to measure how you’re doing against them.

A lot of people I know have their personal goals in place (worryingly, with no plan of action of how they might achieve them).
A smaller percentage of those have their business goals in place.
A tiny proportion of those have marketing goals in place.
And the really smart ones track what they’re doing – but that’s a whole other subject!

New medical billing and coding business,we have 9 employees but I have never marketed before I need some help if anyone has any tips thanks.

See the advice I gave a friend..

Business management is one of the much appreciated jobs positions in the world. The manager is required to have a keen eye so that he makes sure that all the business in running smoothly and there are no stones on the way of success and no decrease in the amount of profit earned each year.

All organizations, including business has managers. They may not be called managers as different titles can be used such as leaders, directors, and head teachers and so on. A good business manager should have abilities to plan, organize, co-ordinate, command and control. In business management, the above mentioned abilities are used a lot. Some examples of these decisions are

o Should we open a new factory in the north or south of a country?
o What price should we charge for the new product?
o Do we buy the new machine even though this will involve job losses for some of our workers?
o Is expansion in another country going to be profitable?

In business management all the decisions are important so it is common to divide these decisions into three types

Strategic decisions are very important which can affect the overall success of the business. Tactical decisions are decisions which are taken more frequently and which are less important. Operational decisions are day-to-day decisions, which will be taken by a lower level of manager.

Taking decision is always a risk. Time, money and other resources will be used as a result of a decision. In business management, taking decisions is one of the toughest jobs. In a small business, such as a sole trader, the owner is the manager. This person will be taking risks with their own capital or savings. These people are referred to as true entrepreneurs or risk takers. If the decision goes wrong they could end up losing their own house and other assets. In a larger business such as a public limited company, the manager taking the decision in not risking his or her own capital but that of the shareholders. Although the manager is still taking risks, the cost of poor decisions will be felt differently. The manager may lose his or her job but it is the shareholders capital that is at stake.
These risks cannot be eliminated but can be reduced by following some simple steps. These steps are sometimes called the decision-making process.

o It is important to establish the objectives of the organization.
o Identify and analyze the problem to be solved.
o Collect data on all possible alternative solutions.
o The most important decision in business management is to make the final decision and put it into effect.
o Look back to see whether the right decision was made. This is called review and evaluation of the decision.

Each department has its own manager. Like the manager of the human resource project will be responsible for

o Forecasting staff needs
o Recruiting staff
o Preparing job descriptions
o Keeping staff records etc.

In business management it is the duty of the managers to look over the departments.
