New Business Ideas & Business Plan Examples and more!

Archive for July, 2009

I am interested in starting up a home business, for some extra cash so that I can stay with my 2 young children. The only ideas I can up with were, baby-sitting and possibly, starting a baking business. I live in a small town so stuff kind of varies here, lol. All answers welcome, thanks!!!! ;-)

definitely the baking thing!!! it’s all about marketing your product! how, where, to who… if you have a great product, it still might fail if you don’t know how to market it. find out what you can make-great!-that people will want to pay for. what would YOU want to buy? specialty bake goods for special occasions? home-made orginal something-or-others, to sell in private stores around your town. get your name out there, find an inexpensive way to package, someone who will sell your stuff in their store… you can do it! work hard, use your creativity on a unique product, or maybe a not so unique product, but one that hasn’t been offered yet in your small town. delivery bake goods? monthly delivery bakegoods that you can freeze? (like a fruit of the month thing that people give as gifts) there are so many things you can do! do your research, actually talk to people, see if they would be interested in such and such product. go for it!!!! you will be so rewarded for even having tried!!!! best of luck :)

where can i find a website to show me some business plan examples to use as a model???

I will be graduating in the winter with a degree in Business Marketing. I am curious to know what I should expect as I begin my career.

It probably depends on your grades, university attended, previous work experience, how well you interview and the type of field/job you interview for…

An entry-level marketing analyst would start in the mid to upper 30K range. If you plan to go into sales, you could start with a base in the 30K range, but have a sales incentive of an additional 30 – 40K.

Hello,

I have the perfect place for you, it’s called "Business Owners Idea Cafe" and they give free advice, they have grant contests (they are generally small, but great for a small business. They have an entire section just for chatting. You can go to Start up Stew for new business ideas or to bounce your ideas off of others. They also have Marketing Mix, E-commerce and a lot more.

Good Luck

At the moment, I have been assigned to create a business plan for an Oil drilling company. I need to know how much is generally spent on equipment, salaries, etc. And I also need to know how much income generally is. But the problem is I don’t know where to find any of this stuff. I’ve thought about possibly e-mailing a company, but I’m not so sure I’d get a response. I’ve also tried looking for online business plans, examples or real ones, but I’ve found no luck…only business plans for doughnut shops and the like. I ‘ve been to a lot of websites describing some of what I need to do, but none of it seems to help me get what I need. If anyone can provide any kind of information, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for anyone that helps.

This is a pretty involved question. I am a drilling consultant, so don’t have much hands on with costs associated with starting up a rig company, my job is supervising the whole scope of the drilling operation on behalf of the oil company that hires the rigs.
I would suggest that you try googling these companies, and contacting them directly. I am sure they will be willing to help you out.
Precision Drilling
Lakota Drilling
Nabors Drilling
Akita Drilling.
These are all Canadian drilling companies so google the Canadian version. If you get no answers to your satisfaction, Let me know and I will try to give you some ball park figures. Let me know how you made out regardless
Good Luck

I am trying to get an internship for a marketing job during college. The problem is that my only work history is being a mover for a moving company. How should I describe this job in my work experience on my resume to make it somewhat fit for a marketing business job?

I was thinking something like working in small groups, communication, etc but would love some input on how to word this.

Thanks

You are not afraid to get your hands dirty and do what it takes to get the job done. Getting along with others and excellent communication skills are definitely important in any marketing position.
